The strictly limited engagement of THAT CHAMPIONSHIP SEASON played its final performance on Sunday, May 29th at 3:00PM.

Now, Variety reports that the play managed to "overcome the bad press to achieve a hair's-breadth recoupment of its $2.75 million capitalization."

THAT CHAMPIONSHIP SEASON starred Brian Cox as "Coach," Jim Gaffigan as "George Sikowski," Chris Noth as "Phil Romano," Jason Patric as "Tom Daley" and Kiefer Sutherland as "James Daley." Jason Miller's Tony and Pulitzer Prize winning play THAT CHAMPIONSHIP SEASON is directed by Gregory Mosher.

On May 29th, THAT CHAMPIONSHIP SEASON played 28 preview performances and 97 regular performances. THAT CHAMPIONSHIP SEASON officially opened on Sunday, March 6th, 2011 at the Bernard B Jacobs Theatre (242 West 45 Street).

The design team includes Michael Yeargan (Sets), Jane Greenwood (Costumes), Peter Kaczorowski (Lights) and Scott Lehrer (Sound).

THAT CHAMPIONSHIP SEASON is produced by Robert Cole, Frederick Zollo, Shelter Island Enterprises, The Shubert Organization, James MacGilvray, Orin Wolf, The Weinstein Company, Second Chance Productions, Brannon Wiles and Scott M. Delman/Lucky VIII.

THAT CHAMPIONSHIP SEASON made its debut at The Public Theater in May 1972 before moving to Broadway's Booth Theatre where it went on to win the Pulitzer Prize, the New York Drama Critics Circle Award for Best Play and the Tony Award for Best Play for the 1973 season. It played a total of 944 performances on and off Broadway.

THAT CHAMPIONSHIP SEASON is a powerhouse drama about the promise of youth... and the challenge of staying in the game. For over two decades, four players and the coach of a high school championship basketball team have gathered every year to re-live their greatest moment of glory. While three of The Players have found small-town success, the fourth has never found his way. At this year's reunion, tensions boil over, and as the celebratory evening turns brutal, long-held secrets bubble to the surface and life-long bonds are shattered.
