Today the organizers of TEDxBroadway released online videos of the 20 talks and performances from this year's sold-out event held February 23, 2015 at New World Stages.

The fourth-annual conference featured speakers from a wide variety of industries -- all dedicated to addressing the overall theme of the day, "What's the Best Broadway Can Be?" Speakers included: Pulitzer Prize winner and Disgraced playwright Ayad Akhtar, Vans Warped Tour producer Kevin Lyman, Tony-nominated composers of the new musical Dear Evan Hansen Benj Pasek and Justin Paul, I Quant NY blogger and computer scientist Ben Wellington, 3-D printing pioneer and Broadway set designer Kacie Hultgren, and more.

In true TED fashion (which stands for Technology, Entertainment and Design), TEDxBroadway 2015 showcased topics in those segments and way beyond. Yale Associate Professor of Psychology Laurie Santos' presentation explored the biological reasons humans seek out live theater. "We as a species can get into the minds of other individuals, something that no other species can do," said Santos. While in his talk, Sree Sreenivasan, the first Chief Digital Officer at The Metropolitan Museum of Art said, "The scarcest resource of the twenty-first century is human attention." He also revealed that 90% of the world's data has been generated in just the past two years. "There's great value for telling the truth in art," said speaker Benjamin Scheuer, who wrote and stars in his autobiographical solo show The Lion. "Tell the truth in art about bad things. You'll be doing something good." This is just a taste of what the day had to offer.

The release of the TEDxBroadway video archive also kicks off a 20-day series on http://sellingout.com/ in which TEDxBroadway co-organizer and event curator Jim McCarthy shares a behind-the-scenes look at the evolution of each speaker's talk. For co-organizer Damian Bazadona's take on TEDxBroadway 2015, you can read his piece on the Huffington Post titled "Why Working On Broadway Is Better Than Ever."
