Stephen Geller Releases 'A Little Piece of Me'

Although many experience life-changing events like divorce, illness and cross-country moves, very few individuals endure all of these challenges during one lifetime.

Author Stephen Geller doesn't sugar coat life's challenges in his new book, "A Little Piece of Me," as the reader is taken on a journey through Marcia's life and her obstacles as a mother and wife.

Marcia's troubles begin when her young son develops a very serious liver disease. Facing the difficult decision to donate a part of her own liver or wait for a transplant, the stress and resulting marital strain is almost more than Marcia can bear.

"This is the story of a young woman who finds confidence and determination despite serious personal and medical challenges that threaten her marriage and her son's life," Geller said. "I want this story to inspire others to take charge of their own life and find the same strength."

As an internationally known liver pathologist, Geller understands the details and complications of liver disease and looks at how the disease deeply affects an entire family.

Geller explores how Marcia turns to her passion for music as an accomplished pianist to escape from her day-to-day stress, while positioning the book as a tool for women struggling to maintain a normal life in the face of all of life's difficult lessons.

About the author
Stephen A. Geller is a nationally and internationally known pathologist with special interest in liver diseases, the autopsy and medical history. He is chairman emeritus of the Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles and has taught pathology at the Mount Sina, Medical Center, New York. He is currently a faculty member at UCLA and at Weill Cornell Medical College. Born in Brooklyn, New York, he now lives in Manhattan and Los Angeles.
