St. Olaf Choir's 2014 National Tour to Stop at Emory University, 2/13

The St. Olaf Choir, the premier a cappella choir in the United States, will perform at Emory University's Schwartz Center for Performing Arts as part of its national tour on Thursday, February 13, 2014.

Under the direction of Conductor Anton Armstrong (whom the New York Times hailed as "clearly a gifted choral director") the choir will perform a rich program of choral music, both a capella and accompanied by a grand pipe organ.

Highlights of their 2014 tour program include:
• Works by two young Norwegian composers: Kim Andre Anesen and Ola Gjeilo. "We performed Arnesen's "Even When He is Silent" and Gjielo's "Prelude" during our tour to Norway this past June, and these works were so well-received that I wanted to carry them over into this tour," Armstrong says.
• Repertory that showcases African American Spirituals and American hymnity including Andre J. Thomas' "I've Just Come From the Fountain," William Dawson's arrangement of "Ezekiel Saw de Wheel," Robert Sholz's arrangement of William Walker's "What Wondrous Love" and Yu-Shan Tsai's arrangement of Philip P. Bliss' "It is Well with My Soul."
• Catherine Rodland's solo performance of Mendelssohn's "Organ Sonata No. 3 in A Major," and John Ferguson's "When the Morning Stars Together" with the St. Olaf Choir
