Spoken Word Artist Cherrie Amour Set for AT THE INKWELL Literary Showcase Today

Baltimore-based spoken word artist Cherrie Amour will perform selections from her first book of poetry, "Free to Be Me: Poems on Life, Love and Relationships" as part of the National Poetry Month celebration presented by "At The Inkwell" - the popular monthly literary showcase - at KGB Bar in Manhattan's East Village today, April 8, 2015. Cherrie, a native Trinidadian, will read selections which focus on her geographical and emotional journey from childhood to adulthood and from the Caribbean to Canada and from Detroit, Michigan to her current hometown of Baltimore, Maryland. With "Free to Be Me" Cherrie takes readers into her journey of dealing with feelings of abandonment, while revealing personal remedies for healing.

Amour received an honorable mention and presented her poem "Hermoso Negro" in the 2013 Allen Ginsberg Poetry Awards Competition at the Poetry Center at Passaic County Community College in Paterson, New Jersey. The poem was also published in the Fall 2014 issue of The Paterson Literary Review.
