Snowlion Repertory Company is pleased to announce receipt of a $3,600 grant from The Cricket Foundation of Boston to support the 2014-2015 season of PLAYLAB, its in-house play development program.

PLAYLAB is a unique playwright's workshop (run by Snowlion Rep Producing Director Margit Ahlin) that encourages and supports the development of new work written by its members. PLAYLAB members convene once a month to hear work read by rehearsed actors (under the direction of Snowlion Rep Artistic Director Al D'Andrea) in order to provide constructive feedback on the work presented. Having completed its third year of serving Maine writers, PLAYLAB continues to provide a home to an expanding body of Maine playwrights, each of whom finds that having a place to bring new writing for rehearsed presentation and member feedback is immensely valuable in the development of his or her new theater piece. The grant from The Cricket Foundation will be used to pay for PLAYLAB meeting and rehearsal space and insurance, as well as small fees for the writers, directors, and actors who up to this point have volunteered their time and talent to this endeavor.

PLAYLAB's 2014-2015 season will showcase its first member-generated project during Maine Restaurant Week in March 2015, featuring an evening of short plays about food by member writers. For more information on this and PLAYLAB, visit www.snowlionrep.org.
