Shindle Guests at Monday Nights, New Voices On March 30

The fifth season of the acclaimed Monday Nights, New Voices series Continues March 30th at the Duplex Cabaret Theatre.

Legally Blonde's Kate Shindle, who will return to Birdland for her solo show, classic, March 23rd, will host the evening featuring the talents of Mathew Burrow, Natalie Elise Hall, Darius Harper, Danny McNie and Amy Toporek. Show time is 7 PM.

The evening will celebrate the work of emerging composer and lyricist, Michael Kooman and Christopher Dimond, who recently participated in the Kenned Center's Broadway Today & Tomorrow, will both be on hand to tell stories behind their work and accompany the performers on their songbook.

Composer Scott Alan launched the Monday Nights, New Voices series to "showcase some of today's brightest new talent in New York." Barbara Anselmi serves as the series musical director.

Michael Kooman and Christopher Dimond - Kooman and Dimond met while students at Carnegie Mellon University. They are currently developing their new musical, GOLDEN GATE, as part of the Williamstown Theatre Festival. Their first musical, DANI GIRL, has been workshopped at the Kennedy Center's New Visions/New Voices Festival, American Conservatory Theatre, the ASCAP/Disney Musical Theater Workshop, CAP-21, and was recently awarded the KC/ACTF Musical Theatre Award. The duo's song cycle HOMEMADE FUSION has been produced at CMU, the Pittsburgh CLO's Late Night Cabaret, the Zipper Theater, Monday Night New Voices: Chicago, and has been featured in several NAMT showcases. Michael and Chris were recently fellows at the O'Neill Music Theater Conference and attended the Johnny Mercer Songwriting Workshop. Their work has been featured in the Kennedy Center's recent Broadway Today & Tomorrow series, and has been performed at colleges and theaters across the country. They are proud members of the Dramatists Guild and ASCAP.

Kate Shindle - Kate most recently appeared on Broadway as the original (and, as it happens, only) Vivienne Kensington in Legally Blonde. Other show-offy credits include Sally Bowles in both the Broadway and touring productions of Cabaret and Lucy in Jekyll & Hyde. Also in New York, Kate has appeared in A Midsummer Night's Dream (Helena), The Woman Upstairs (Kassan), and the World AIDS Day Concerts of Children of Eden (Yonah), Pippin (Leading Player), and The Secret Garden, and won the Outstanding Individual Performance Award for the title role in Sympathy Jones at the New York Musical Theatre Festival. She has done about twelve million readings, notably the one where she plays time (Einstein's Dreams), the one where she plays a human-pterodactyl hybrid (Pterodactyl Island), and the one where she plays Greta Garbo (Garbo and Me). Regionally, she has starred in After the Fall (Maggie) at The Alley, Himself and Nora (Nora Barnacle) at The Old Globe, Into the Woods (Witch), Gypsy (Louise), The Last Five Years, First Lady Suite, The Mousetrap, and others. Her film work includes Capote, The Stepford Wives, and a stellar turn as "Flight Attendant #1" on As The World Turns.
