If Prince hand selects you to be in his band, chances are you're at the top of your game. Such was the case in 1978 when Prince tapped Sheila E. to record on the Purple Rain album, where she lent vocals to "Let's Go Crazy" and "Erotic City". From there on out, their musical lives have often been intertwined. On her own, Sheila E's R&B and jazz-fusion roots have solidified her in the annals of rock history as a dynamic singer/songwriter, percussionist and drummer. This amazing artist will be in concert at The Ridgefield Playhouse on Sunday, June 1, at 8 p.m. performing from her songbook, which includes "The Glamorous Life", "A Love Bizarre" and the "We Are the World" session. Her latest record Icon (March 2014) features catchy hooks, dynamic percussive performances and even a collaboration with Prince.

Known as The Queen of Percussion, Sheila E is a dynamic singer/songwriter, actress, percussionist and drummer. She has recorded and toured with legendary artists including Natalie Cole, Babyface, Gloria Estefan, Marvin Gaye, Stevie Nicks, Cyndi Lauper and Diana Ross. Sheila E was the featured drummer three times for Ringo Starr's All-Star Band tour. Her Playhouse show is poised to sizzle and is part of the Xfinity Rock Series with media sponsor 94.3fm WYBC. An AllShows.com VIP Party Pass ($25 addt'l per person), which includes a pre-show cocktail party 6:30 - 7:15 p.m. with open bar, hors-d'oeuvre and priority parking, is available for this show by calling the box office (203-438-5795).

For tickets ($80), call or visit the box office at 203-438-5795, or order online at ridgefieldplayhouse.org. The Ridgefield Playhouse is a not-for-profit performing arts center located at 80 East Ridge, parallel to Main Street, Ridgefield, CT.
