The previously announced encore presentation of Shakina Nayfack in POST-OP at The Musical Theatre Factory, will now enjoy a longer run at The Wild Project (195 East 3rd Street, NYC) from October 16- 29, 2015. Tickets are $20 at the door, $17 in advance and can be purchased at mtf.nyc/post-op.

Originally presented in front of a sold out audience at Joe's Pub last month, POST-OP is written by and stars Shakina Nayfack as she shares her pilgrimage to Thailand to undergo gender confirmation surgery, which was crowd-funded by her groundbreaking "KickStartHer" campaign. An exploration of faith, sexuality, and gender identity, her stories are woven together with no-holds-barred monologues, slam poetry, and music written by founding members of Musical Theatre Factory including: Nikko Benson, Ty Defoe Michael R. Jackson, Teresa Lotz, Lauren Marcus, Sam Salmond, Zoe Sarnak, Tidtaya Sinutoke, Shaina Taub, Joel Waggoner, and Julianne Wick Davis. POST-OP will be directed by Sarna Lapine and music directed by Jacob Yates.

POST-OP is a companion piece to Nayfack's autobiographical ONE WOMAN SHOW, which premiered at Joe's Pub in 2013, and subsequently played 54 Below, Sophie's @ Broadway, TheatreWorks Silicon Valley, Barrington Stage Company, and Musical Theatre Factory (MTF). POST-OP was developed through the Musical Theatre Factory Writers' Group, one of the many developmental paths offered at that organization.

The extended run of POST-OP is presented by The Musical Theatre Factory. Eric Cornell, an MTF Board Member, explained "The Musical Theatre Factory is thrilled to back our very own Shakina Nayfack in this amazing piece of theatre. The Writer's Group and Joe's Pub concert were just the beginning for this entertaining and touching show, and when an opportunity for us to present this show at a larger venue for a longer period of time, we took it. This piece deserves every opportunity to be seen by audiences and is an prime example of our development programs at work."

Shakina was last seen as Lady Liberty in NYMF's "Manuel Versus the Statue of Liberty" this past summer where she was recognized with the NYMF award for Outstanding Individual Performance. In addition to her work as a performer and transgender spokesperson, she is also the founding Artistic Director of Musical Theatre Factory, a nonprofit organization dedicated to the development of new musical theatre. She was presented with a Lilly Award earlier this year for her contributions to the American Theatre, the first transgender woman to be recognized with the award.

Musical Theatre Factory is a nonprofit organization dedicated to helping musical theatre artists develop and present new work in a collaborative environment free from the pressures of critical or commercial success. For more information visit www.MTF.nyc.
