Second Thought Theatre Hosts Free Public Reading of BOOTH Today

Second Thought Theatre hosts the first public reading of BOOTH, the brand new play by Walters with story and research assistance from Erik Archilla about the man behind one of the most tragic assassinations in American history. The reading will take place tonight, December 9 at 7:30pm in Bryant Hall on the Kalita Humphreys Campus. Immediately following the reading, KERA's Jerome Weeks will lead a conversation with Walters, Archilla and members of the cast and audience about the play.

"The support we received from TACA has been instrumental in developing this project," said Walters. "Erik and I have been able to devote a significant amount of time to refining the piece and we are very excited to finally be able to share it with the public for the first time."

Recently Walters and Archilla held a three-day workshop with theatre students at Baylor University with assistance from Baylor Theatre Chair Stan Denman. Both Walters and Archilla graduated from Baylor with degrees in theatre.

Montgomery Sutton, returning to STT after this summer's Gruesome Playground Injuries, will read the part of John Wilkes Booth. Denman joins him as Edwin Stanton, President Lincoln's Secretary of War. Additional participants include Andrews Cope, Joey Folsom, Mikaela Krantz, Van Quattro, AaRon Roberts, Jacob Stewart, Travis Steubing, Austin Terrell, Drew Wall, Lulu Ward, Clay Wheeler and Clay Yocum.

Tickets to the reading are free and will be available on a first come, first served basis the night of the event. STT membership holders will have the opportunity to reserve seats early.
