The American Dance Festival's (ADF) 2017 season continues with the ADF debut of Sean Dorsey Dance on Wednesday, July 5 and Thursday, July 6 at 8:00pm at Reynolds Industries Theater.

Paul Taylor Dance Company returns on Friday, July 7 at 8:00pm and Saturday, July 8 at 7:00pm with different programs each evening at Durham Performing Arts Center (DPAC).

Heidi Latsky Dance offers a FREE performance of ON DISPLAY on Sunday, July 9 at 5:00pm at Duke Homestead.

The special live cooking demonstration/discussion The Boiled Peanut Hour on Sunday, July 9 at 7:00pm will feature cookbook authors Matt and Ted Lee, chef Andrea Reusing, and choreographer Mark Dendy.

The Saturday Children's Matinee Series continues with Paul Taylor Dance Company on Saturday, July 8 at 1:00pm at DPAC.

Nasher Museum of Art at Duke University and ADF once again partner up to present Yossi Berg & Oded Graf on Monday, July 10-Wednesday, July 12 at 7:00pm at the Nasher Museum of Art.

FREE ADF School Tours continue through July 21 on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays, at 9:15am and 11:15am.

ADF Debut!

The Missing Generation is a dance-theater work that gives voice to longtime survivors of the early AIDS epidemic. This powerful show is a love letter to a forgotten generation of survivors-those who witnessed and experienced the loss of part of an entire generation of gay and transgender people to AIDS in the 1980s and 1990s.

This performance contains adult subject matter.

Different Program Each Night!

One of the world's most highly respected and sought-after ensembles, the Paul Taylor Dance Company will present two different programs of classic and new works. On Friday evening, the company will perform Cascade, Syzygy, and Larry Keigwin's Rush Hour. Saturday night's program will consist of 1971's Book of Beasts, Syzygy, and Doug Elkins' The Weight of Smoke. A special Saturday Children's Matinee will take place on July 8 at 1:00pm followed by a FREE kid's party in the DPAC lobby.

ADF, in association with Duke Homestead, presents Heidi Latsky Dance's ON DISPLAY, a deconstructed art exhibit/fashion installation and commentary on the body as spectacle and society's obsession with body image. ON DISPLAY is a structured improvisation movement piece designed to be performed by diverse people. The installation allows performers and the public alike to fully witness each other.

Boiled Peanut Hour

ADF will present The Boiled Peanut Hour: A Live Cooking Show About Southern Identities with cookbook authors and brothers Matt and Ted Lee, The Durham Hotel executive chef Andrea Reusing, and North Carolina born/New York City based choreographer Mark Dendy on Sunday, July 9, 7:00pm at Reynolds Industries Theater. This live hour-plus-long show has the group cooking, storytelling, and trash-talking while preparing dishes from the Southern canon that send up the differences between home cooks and professional chefs and dramatize how tasty it is to be a Southerner. Complimentary pre-show nibbles and cocktails, courtesy of Maker's Mark Bourbon, will be provided in the theater lobby. A limited number of VIP tickets will be available, which include a ticket to the performance and an after-show four-course dinner with the performers at The Durham Hotel prepared by Andrea Reusing. Tickets are $50 (performance only) and VIP tickets are $250 (includes performance and after show four-course dinner with the performers at The Durham Hotel) with proceeds benefitting the ADF Scholarship Fund.

Nasher Museum of Art at Duke University

Co-presented by ADF and the Nasher Museum of Art at Duke University, Come Jump With Me is a daring, provocative, and witty work that examines the relevancy and significance of creating art in the urgent political reality of Israel. In the explosive political and social reality, this work indeed pushes the limits and "plays with fire," both literally and visually.

This performance contains adult subject matter.

Throughout the summer, tours offer individuals, families, and community groups an insider's perspective where you can experience the world-renowned ADF faculty, students, and musicians hard at work. Tours of the school increase your understanding of modern dance and ADF. The tours highlight the history of the festival up to the present day. Tours are led by Director of ADF School Tours, Joseph Fedrowitz, ADF staff, and other long-time ADF supporters, giving visitors the chance to observe art in action as well as obtain details about the 2017 season. Throughout its 84-year history, ADF has been a nationally recognized leader in our indigenous art form of modern dance. Generations of dancers and choreographers have come to ADF as students, taught as faculty, and created and performed work as professional artists. Each summer, ADF has been the beating heart of the dance world. The best companies in the world premiere work on ADF's stage, much of it commissioned by the festival. Other festivals and season programs are measured against ADF. Over 26,000 people see performances by more than 20 companies each season. The festival has commissioned 418 works and premiered 681 pieces including dances by Martha Graham, Merce Cunningham, and Paul Taylor. Each summer at ADF, more than 420 students from some 20 countries and 40 states study with ADF's 70 faculty members. They come as kids in leotards with as many doubts as dreams. They leave as dancers and artists-and sometimes even new members of companies. Lives change in those 6 sweaty weeks. Beyond the summer, ADF maintains year-round dance studios offering movement classes to over 770 participants, provides over 190 free classes to more than 3,200 local dancers, and offers choreographic residencies providing artists with the necessary space and time to create.
