Cirque du Soleil just announced the creation of a new division, Cirque du Soleil Theatrical. Scott Zeiger, co-founding partner of Base Entertainment, will serve as President and Managing Director of the new division. Zeiger will develop unique theatrical opportunities for Cirque du Soleil. Based on traditional theatrical practices, these new productions will be created using the Cirque du Soleil signature style and aesthetic but will provide a very different experience for Cirque du Soleil audiences. This new division will be based in New York City and will continue to promote Cirque du Soleil's on-going strategy of diversifying its content and live-entertainment activities worldwide.

Zeiger's extensive experience in theatre and broad-based live entertainment will ensure the rapid growth and success of this new division. During his tenure at BASE, Zeiger helped create many international successes such as the 6-year run of Phantom - The Las Vegas Spectacular, Disney's The Lion King, and Wicked, presented in Singapore. His credits also include current hit Broadway shows such as Jersey Boys (Las Vegas and world tour) and Rock of Ages (Las Vegas).

"I have been close to and have worked with Cirque du Soleil for more than 10 years. I have witnessed their incredible ability to create, produce and distribute the very highest quality live entertainment. This new venture for Cirque is very exciting for me and I look forward to developing new theatrical productions and having access to the best creative talent in the world. I believe there is a huge potential for us on Broadway, the West End and global touring," said Zeiger.

President and CEO of Cirque du Soleil Daniel Lamarre said: "Scott's extensive experience in this important segment of the entertainment industry is a huge asset. We are thrilled that he has accepted the invitation to join our team. His outstanding reputation and credibility in theatrical and live entertainment are based on his past successes with major entertainment companies such as Clear Channel, SFX and, of course, Base Entertainment. Cirque du Soleil Theatrical will be a key player."

Scott will also enable Cirque Eloize - a Cirque du Soleil sister company - to take its development and promotion in theatrical venues to a new level.

Base Entertainment will continue to thrive under the strong leadership of its CEO and co-founder Brian Becker, and Scott Zeiger will take on his new responsibilities at Cirque du Soleil Theatrical beginning March 3, 2014.

Cirque du Soleil is primarily a creative content provider for a wide variety of unique projects. In addition to shows, the company, which has its International Headquarters in Montreal, extends its creative talent to other spheres of activity. While maintaining stringent standards of artistic quality and originality, Cirque du Soleil brings to innovative projects the same energy and spirit that characterize each of its shows.

Cirque du Soleil is a Quebec-based organization providing high-quality artistic entertainment. Since its beginnings in 1984, close to 150 million spectators in over 300 cities on six continents have been thrilled by Cirque du Soleil.
