Scott Evans (One Life to Live), Maya Days (title role in Broadway's Aida) and Marla Schaffel (title role in Broadway's Jane Eyre) will take part in a reading of selections from theater promoter and author Mark Brennan Rosenberg's new novel, Blackouts and Breakdowns, on Wednesday, October 28, 2009 at 6 PM at The Snapple Theater Center, 210 West 50th Street.

In Blackouts and Breakdowns, Rosenberg chronicles his shenanigans from early childhood when he was obsessed with show tunes, soap operas and stealing baby Jesuses from peoples' front yards to adulthood when he came to terms with being a semi-functioning alcoholic.  In twelve hilarious short stories, Mark explores the ridiculousness of his excessive drinking and the struggles he had to overcome to achieve sobriety – all with a dash of musical theater humor and soap opera pathos along the way.

Scott Evans can currently be seen as police officer Oliver Fish on ABC's One Life to Live.  His character recently came out of the closet and as a gay man himself, Evans has the distinction of being one of the few gay actors to portray a gay character on television.  His other credits include Confessions of a Shopaholic, Fringe, Law and Order: Criminal Intent and Guiding Light.

Maya Days had the number one hit "Feel It" in the United Kingdom.  On Broadway she starred as Aida in Aida, as Mimi in Rent and as Mary Magdalene in Jesus Christ Superstar.

Marla Schaffel received a Tony nomination for her performance as Jane Eyre in the Broadway musical Jane Eyre.  Her other Broadway credits include Fantine in Les Miserables and Caroline Neville in Titanic.  She recently appeared Off Broadway in Enter Laughing.

Reservations for the hour-long event, which will include refreshments and an open bar, can be made by e-mailing blackoutsandbreakdowns@gmail.com.
