The Savannah Summer Theatre Institute, fresh off its highly lauded 2013 production of RENT, welcomes applicants for its unrivaled high school summer theatre intensive.

The Savannah Summer Theatre Institute conducts a strenuous musical theatre intensive each summer that immerses high school students in an intense rehearsal period followed by a week of guest artist workshops. Created to show high school students how a professional rehearsal process is run, the students put together a full production in three weeks that cumulates with two weekends of performances.

For 2014, the staff of SSTI has proudly announced a unique take on the Sondheim classic "INTO THE WOODS." Set in the world of Victorian Steampunk, this production will be a visual delight for audiences who frequently see this show presented in a more traditional style.

SSTI gives students the opportunity to learn and grow in a fast paced environment with luxury housing, packed audiences, and small cast sizes. Cast members also have the opportunity to work with stars of the Broadway stage. Pictured below are members of the cast of RENT working with 2013 Tony nominee Will Chase. Previous summers have offered masterclasses with industry experts, including Titus Burgess and Roger Bart.

The program is highly competitive, with acceptance rates dictated by production size. In 2013, SSTI welcomed students from 9 states and 3 countries for RENT. Early application is recommended.

Applications are currently being accepted on SSTI's website at www.SavannahSummerTheatre.com.
