Saturday Roundup: This Week on BroadwayWorld
If you're looking for a quick roundup of this week's events, look no further: here are some of the best articles the week had to offer!
From Samantha Barks receiving the highly sought after role of Eponine in the LES MIS film to Megan Hilty headlining Encores! GENTLEMEN PREFER BLONDES, casting dominated the headlines this week. Melora Hardin, Ben Daniels, Adam James, Jennifer Tilly and Spencer Kayden joined Roundabout's DON'T DRESS FOR DINNER; Stephen Ouimette, Larry Neumann, Jr. and more were added to the cast of Goodman Theatre's THE ICEMAN COMETH, starring Nathan Lane; Jennifer Holliday will return to DREAMGIRLS at the Muny this summer; and Adam LeFevre and Julie Reiber will join PRISCILLA QUEEN OF THE DESERT on Monday.
Lead producer Scott Rudin backed out of producting CLYBOURNE PARK after contending that playwright Bruce Norris "made a series of what he termed more and more outrageous demands in the hope that we would turn him down, and that he would not have to face the responsibility of reneging on a commitment he made" to appear in Rudin's upcoming TV series 'The Corrections.' The show will continue to Broadway, however, with Jordan Roth, president of Jujamcyn Theatres, saying: "Clybourne Park is on. We’ll see you there!"
