
President Barack Obama has named actresses Sarah Jessica Parker, Kerry Washington, Oscar winner Forest Whitaker, actor Edward Norton, agent Bryan Lourd as members of the President's Committee on Arts and the Humanities.
Other entertainment notables named to the group include actress Alfre Woodard, director George C. Wolfe, independent filmmaker Liz Manne, Yo Yo Ma, Vogue editor Anna Wintour, philanthropist Teresa Heinz, architect Thom Moore, ballet dancer Damian Woetzel and publicist Andy Spahn.
First Lady Michelle Obama is its honorary chairwoman and film producer George Stevens Jr. and Tony winning theatre producer Margo Lion have already been named as its co-chairs.
Appointed by the President, the PCAH Chairman leads the committee, which encompasses twenty-six leading citizens from the private sector who have an interest in and commitment to the humanities and the arts.
Its members also include twelve federal members whose agencies have cultural programs, such as the National Endowments for the Arts and the Humanities, the Institute of Museum and Library Services, the U. S. Department of Education, the Smithsonian Institution, the Library of Congress, the National Gallery of Art and The John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts.
