Stories of Love and Passion is the new, critically acclaimed play by international burlesque diva Rosie Bitts, spinning together unconventional love stories about Loss of Virginity, Group Sex, Pregnancy and Sex Work. Rosie mixes Cabaret, Burlesque, and Story Telling to create a roller coaster ride of a show that takes the audience from laughter to tears to titillation within the span of an hour.

"I think it's important to tell true stories, ones that aren't your traditional, candy-coated love stories," says Rosie.

Some of the tales are heart breaking, some hilarious, and others quite arousing, and all of them are based in truth from Rosie's life or from the lives of people close to her. These are the stories of love, sex and passion that people don't always want to talk about or admit happen. "Despite their edginess, I think people can relate to them. At the same time, they push the envelope and hopefully get the audience thinking about what has been forced underground in our society."

Rosie tells her stories with passion and a humanness that insures the audience is never alienated, but instead feels guided down some of these dark alleyways, perhaps made uncomfortable, but then rewarded with a song or some risque burlesque. "I don't start off planning for my work to be heavy-hitting or subversive, but it seems to end up that way."

Bitts' play is also a spectacle for the senses featuring fabulous live music (Bitts sings soulfully and is accompanied by multi-instrumentalist Jeff Poynter), gorgeous costumes, and some very cheeky burlesque.

Rosie was invited to perform in NYC at the United Solo Theatre Festival, the biggest festival of solo work in the world, and this invitation became the impetus for a US tour that will see her hitting eight cities in seven states. Being based out of a small town on an island on the West Coast of Canada, it has been a lifetime dream for Bitts to perform in New York.

"I was overwhelmed when I opened my invitation email from United Solo. I've dreamed of performing in New York City my whole life and am so excited to be bringing this show in particular. It's really amazing how everything has fallen into place."

Rosie is also a strong advocate for Sex Workers' rights and is using the show to raise awareness by promoting a local organization that supports sex workers in each city she's in. Five percent of the profits from this play will be donated to those organizations.

The show is set for tonight, October 21, 7:30pm Theatre Row: 410 West 42nd Street, New York City. Tickets, with a price of $19.25 (including a $1.25 theatre restoration charge) are available at the Theatre Row Box Office and online through Telecharge at www.telecharge.com.
