Lat night, Monday, February 1, 'Idol' alum and Dreamgirls star Jennifer Hudson belted out a rendition of "I Will Always Love You," in a special tribute to Whitney Houston at the BET Honors. The song, written by Dolly Parton, was made famous by Houston, and has long been considered her signature tune. Watch Jennifer Hudson serenade Houston in the clip below.

Whitney Houston has established a benchmark for superstardom throughout her multi-decade career. She has amassed sales of over 170 million combined albums, singles and videos worldwide during her career with Arista Records. She is a singer's singer who has influenced countless other vocalists, both female and male. Her current album, "I Look To You," debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard chart when it was released this past August, and has sold 2 million copies worldwide to date. In February, Whitney will commence her long-awaited Nothing But Love World Tour 2010.

Additional honorees at the event included Doctor Keith Black, Sean "Diddy" Combs, Queen Latifah, and Brown University President Ruth Simmons.

Now in it's third year, The BET Honors were established in 2008 by the Black Entertainment Television network to celebrate the lives and achievements of African American luminaries.
