'SPRING' Star Hunter Parrish Profiled in NYT Feature

Spring Awakening star Hunter Parrish was featured in the New York Times theater section yesterday, the WEEDS actor gives a brief interview about performing the Broadway show and how the stage continues to inspire him.
Parrish has been a wonderful addition to the Great White Way these last number of months, bringing dynamic energy to the production and giving of his time and talents to the entire Broadway community. The Times piece is a great profile on an inspired young actor, to read the feature click here.
Hunter Parrish recently joined the cast of Michelle and Kieran Mulroney's new film "Paper Man."
This past summer he was featured in Vanity Fair's cover feature "Hollywood's New Wave-The Hottest Kids in Hollywood spread.
Hunter can be seen as Silas, the rabble-rousing older son of Mary-Louise Parker on the highly acclaimed Showtime series WEEDS. The show's 4th season premiered last summer to positive reviews.
Moviegoers can next see Parrish on the big screen in "17 Again" opposite Zac Efron and Matthew Perry. Other screen roles include "Freedom Writers" with Hilary Swank and Patrick Dempsey, and Barry Sonnefeld's comedy "RV" playing the son of Jeff Daniels and Kristen Chenoweth.
Spring Awakening broke barriers when it opened off Broadway at the Atlantic Theatre and then subsequently moved to Broadway and its home at the Eugene O'Neill Theatre.
When Spring Awakening closes on January 18, it will have played 859 performances and 29 previews. Its eight 2007 Tony© Awards, including Best Musical, made Spring Awakening one of the biggest Tony winners in the past decade. In addition to the Tony Award wins, Spring Awakening won four Drama Desk Awards, three Outer Critics Circle Awards, and the NY Drama Critics Award for Best Musical, the Drama League award for Distinguished Production of a Musical, and the 2008 Grammy Award for Best Musical Show Album, among other notable citations.
Broadway's Spring Awakening is led by Hunter Parrish as Melchior, Alexandra Socha as Wendla and Gerard Canonico as Moritz. The "next generation" of Spring Awakening cast was chosen from across the country; from Texas to New Hampshire, Washington to Georgia and all points in between. With ages that range from mid-late teens through early twenties, the new group is similarly in age to the original cast when they began the journey at the Atlantic.
Spring Awakening features the music of Duncan Sheik and book and lyrics by Steven Sater. Choreography is by Bill T. Jones and it is directed by Michael Mayer. It is the recipient of 8 2007 Tony Awards, including Best Musical, and the Grammy Award.

SPRING AWAKENING Makes UK Premiere as Part of Lyric's 2009 Spring Season on 1/23

Cast members from the Tony Award- winning Best Musical SPRING AWAKENING, including Hunter Parrish, Alexandra Socha, Gerard Canonico, Matt Doyle, Emily Kinney, Zach Reiner-Harris, Morgan Karr, Frances Mercanti-Anthony and others will appear on ABC-TV's GOOD MORNING AMERICA on Tuesday, December 30th, as part of the "Warm Coats, Warm Hearts Coat Drive," from their Times Square Studios. The 2nd Annual "Warm Coats and Warm Hearts Drive," sponsored by Burlington Coat Factory, to benefit the nonprofit organization, One Warm Coat, kicked off its 2nd annual drive last month on the popular morning show. Each of the cast members will bring one or more coats and make a donation. (GMA airs 7am-9am weekdays on ABC-TV).
