Once upon a time in a faraway swamp, there lived a green ogre who one day found his home overrun by a group of banished fairytale misfits. Thus begins the tale of an unlikely hero who finds himself on a life-changing journey alongside a wisecracking donkey to rescue a feisty princess.

The Roxy Regional School of the Arts presents an irreverently fun adventure for the entire family with SHREK the Musical JR. at the Roxy Regional Theatre, May 20 through June 11.

Based on the Oscar-winning DreamWorks Animation film and the book by William Steig, SHREK The Musical JR. is directed and choreographed by Tom Thayer, with additional choreography by Emily Rourke and music direction by Lacey Connell. Fusing the outrageous humor of the original film with spectacular musical numbers such as the Broadway hit "Big Bright Beautiful World" and Neil Diamond's rock classic "I'm a Believer," composer Jeanine Tesori and writer David Lindsay-Abaire impart the show's powerful message of self-acceptance, proving that beauty is truly in the eye of the ogre.

Starring Patrick Long in the title role with Allison Ferebee as the feisty Princess Fiona, Riley Jenkins as the wisecracking Donkey and Truman Jepson as the ruthless Lord Farquaad, SHREK also features Jesse Boyle, Addisyn Bryant, Olivia Casey, Adianna Cervantes, Kourtni Cottrell, Marlon Cuevas, Ava DoVanne, Brent Gallagher, Ehma Herrera, Jasmine Holmes, Jacob Johnson, Emma Justice, Anna Maddux, Sidney McCarty, Nate Miller, Rebecca Morrison, Robert Mullen, Lauren Mund, Madeline O'Connor, Emma Petrie, Michael Phillips, Lillie Rich, Aidan Sartor, Tristan Sartor, Tanner Sigears, Georgia Smith, Austin Stewart and Jewel Stewart.

On Saturday, May 28 and June 11, patrons are invited to "Lunch with Shrek" before the matinee. The party starts at 12:30pm across the street at Edward's (107 Franklin Street) with lunch (hot dogs, Shrek's mac & cheese, fresh fruit, beverage and Shrek's "dirt cups" for dessert), photos with Shrek and Fiona, fairytale crafts and more. Tickets are $40 for the package, which includes the 2:00pm performance of SHREK The Musical JR. All children must be accompanied by a paying adult.

SHREK The Musical JR. plays May 20, 21, 24, 25, 28, 31, June 1, 2, 3, 4, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11 at 6:00pm; May 21, 28, June 4, 11 at 2:00pm; and May 26 at 7:00pm.

All tickets are $15 and may be purchased online at www.roxyregionaltheatre.org, by phone at (931) 645-7699, or at the theatre during regular box office hours (9:00am to 2:00pm, Monday through Friday, and one hour prior to curtain).

This production is made possible in part through the generous support of Jill T. Crow, Dr. Ernest & Joan DeWald, Sal & Andrea Herrera and Starlene Shackelford Sykes.
