Rooftop Films has announced the following films for its last week of the season:

Monday, August 13

The Muppets

(James Bobin | USA | 98 min.)

On vacation in Los Angeles, Walter, the world's biggest Muppet fan, and his friends Gary and Mary from Smalltown, USA, discover the nefarious plan of oilman Tex Richman to raze the Muppet Theater and drill for the oil recently discovered beneath the Muppets' former stomping grounds. To stage The Greatest Muppet Telethon Ever and raise the $10-million needed to save the theater, Walter, Mary and Gary help Kermit the Frog reunite the Muppets, who have all gone their separate ways.

Once in a Lullaby

(Jonathan Kalafer | USA | 89 min.)

Public School 22 in NYC has more than just an amazing chorus, they have an amazing story. These 5th graders went from performing in their school auditorium on Staten Island to closing the show at the 83rd Annual Academy Awards! It all started when their dynamic and caring teacher Gregg Breinberg starting posting videos of their performances on YouTube. The videos went viral captivating viewers from your house to the White House (where they performed for President Obama) with the students' pure love of music. Celebrities and Indie Rockers alike started flocking to the elementary school to visit and perform.

Take the 4 or 5 to Bowling Green, the R or W to Whitehall Station, or the 1 to South Ferry, then a FREE 25-minute ride on the historic Staten Island Ferry. Exit the Ferry from the upper deck and then follow the signs to the ballpark.

7:00PM: Live performances by former PS22 Chorus member Clive Baird accompanied by Corey Powell and current members-and two of the best-remembered soloists from the film-Kiarah Mitchell and Kahlil Williams.

8:30PM: Film begins

Tuesday, August 14

5 Broken Cameras

(Guy Davidi and Emad Burnat | 90 min.)

When his son Gibreel is born, Emad, a Palestinian villager, gets his first camera. In his village of Bil'in, a separation barrier is being built on the villagers' lands to which the villagers begin to resist. Throughout the years, Emad films the struggle led by two of his friends while simultaneously filming his son growing up. Very soon this struggle affects his life on a more personal level. Daily arrests and night raids scare his family; his friends, brothers.. One camera after another is shot or smashed and with each camera a part of Emad's story unfolds.

Thursday, August 16

The Sandlot

Scotty Smalls, the shy new kid in town, musters up the courage to play baseball with the neighborhood boys. Although he's not very good at first, as the summer passes he becomes a vital team member and manages to bring the group face-to-face with "The Beast," a ferocious guard dog located beyond the fence of the sandlot.

Love Story

New York City is the backdrop, inspiration, and co-creator of this funny and passionate meta-fictional romance. Filmmaker Florian Habicht will be in attendance for a Q and A following the screening.
