Mik Artistik's Ego Trip, who wowed audiences at the last two Warrington Contemporary Arts Festivals, are returning to the town for what promises to be a memorable show at Pyramid arts centre.

The trio are an edgy, funny, poetic unit who play rock and roll stand up and they are Glastonbury regulars, having performed multiple shows at each of the last eight Worthy Farm festivals.

Chaos ensues whenever the trio take to the stage, as they will at Pyramid on Friday 9 June, with Mik tumbling around, spluttering lyrics, tripping over leads and throwing straws around.

He also likes to spout random observations and share his unusual train of thought with the audience.

Guitarist Jonny Flockton and Benson Walker on bass dutifully hold fort, trying to rein Mik in while creating a backdrop which is equal parts joyous, funky, elegant and rocky: every show is different.

Mik Artistik's Ego Trip have appeared on Channel 4's Random Acts, had slots at Bath Comedy Fest, and Edinburgh and Brighton Fringe Festivals, as well as supporting the legendary Chas & Dave at their O2 Academy show in Leeds.

Their performances have prompted glowing reviews and flattering descriptions including "sensational" and "brilliant" from the likes of performance poet John Cooper Clarke, and comedian Johnny Vegas once called Mik "the mad professor of comedy".

BBC 6 Music has also taken the band to heart and crowd favourite Plastic Fox was one of its "recommends" tracks, essentially a "single of the week".

Presenter Gideon Coe once said they were "the best live band I have seen all summer" and breakfast show host Shaun Keaveny said they were "as mad as a wasp trapped under a pint glass".

Keith Allen simply described them as "genius".

Tickets for the show on Friday 9 June are on sale now.

Pyramid & Parr Hall are two of the North West's leading arts and entertainment venues for music, comedy, dance, drama and much more. The venues have played host to big name acts including John Bishop, The Stone Roses, Billy Ocean, Jools Holland and Peter Kay to name a few.

Parr Hall is a listed building and has been a long standing feature of Warrington's cultural scene since its opening in 1895. It is a medium sized concert venue with 1000 seats. Pyramid opened in 2002, with support from Arts Council England and the National Lottery, as an arts centre focusing on smaller performances and community events. It offers a range of spaces to hire for events, weddings and conferences.

The venues are run by Culture Warrington which is a charitable trust that was established in May 2012 to also manage Warrington Museum & Art Gallery and cultural events across the town including Warrington Festival and Warrington Contemporary Arts Festival.
