Richmond Triangle Players to Present Staged Reading of AFTER ORLANDO

Richmond Triangle Players, in association with Missing Bolts Productions Inc. (Blair Baker & Zac Kline artistic directors) and NoPassport Theatre Alliance and Press (Caridad Svich, founder) will present a staged reading of AFTER ORLANDO, two evenings of short plays in response to the shooting at Pulse Nightclub in Orlando, Florida.

There will be almost two dozen plays read over the two-night event, December 12 and 13, 2016 at 8:00 pm, at RTP's theater at 1300 Altamont Avenue in Richmond's Scott's Addition neighborhood.

Featuring readings of short plays written by Deborah Laufer, Oliver Mayer, Anders Lustgarten, Caridad Svich, Ian Rowlands, Ken Urban, Jacqueline Lawton, Cecilia Copeland, Rohina Malik, Israel Horowitz, Neil LaBute, Andy Field, Jeff McMahon, Zac Cline, Lisa Schlesinger, Matthew Paul Olmos, Mando Alvarado, Madeline Sayet, and Erik Ehn, the plays will be directed by and feature Richmond talent including actress Boomie Pedersen (TheatreLAB's Mother Courage and RTP's Angels in America) , TheatreLAB Artistic Director Deejay Gray, RTP Associate Artistic Director Keith Fitzgerald, RTP Associate Producing Director Lucian Restivo, TheatreVCU faculty member Kikau Alvaro, and actress/directors Mary Lennon, Marisa Guida and Heather Falks.

Running for two nights only, each performance will feature a totally different group of plays. The RTP event has been coordinated by Josh Chenard, faculty member at TheatreVCU, who also directs two of the plays. All proceeds from this event will benefit Diversity Richmond (diversityrichmond.org).

AFTER ORLANDO is an international playwright driven theatre action including over-seventy playwrights form the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, Africa and Australia. Plays have been specifically written and curated in response to this tragic event and will be read at over 40 venues across the country and in the UK throughout the fall.

Partner venues include: The Finborough Theatre (London); Rattlestick Playwrights Theatre and the LGBT Center (NYC); Round House Theatre and Olney Theatre Center (DC); The Inge Center (Independence, KS); Theatre@Boston Court and the University of Southern California (Los Angeles); Miami New Drama (Miami), Philadelphia Theatre Company and The University of the Arts (Philadelphia) and many more.

All local performances will take place at Richmond Triangle Players' theater at 1300 Altamont Avenue, just northwest of the intersection of the Boulevard and West Broad Street. RTP's theater at 1300 Altamont Avenue is a 4000-square foot performing arts facility accommodating flexible seating arrangements for up to 90 patrons. The building features fully ADA-compliant access and comfortable restrooms, as well as a generous bar, and catering capability, and is also available for cabaret performances and private events.
