Resurrection Blues, Directed by Altman, Starring Campbell & Modine, Opens March 2

Robert Altman's production of Arthur Miller's Resurrection Blues--featuring a starry cast that includes Neve Campbell and Matthew Modine--will open March 2nd at the Old Vic for a run through April 22nd; the show began previews on February 14th. 

Directed by five-time Oscar-nominated filmmaker Altman (M.A.S.H., Nashville, Gosford Park), the play will feature Campbell, Tony Award-winner Jane Adams, Peter McDonald, Matthew Modine, Oscar-winner Maximillian Schell, and John Wood.

"High in the mountains of a South American banana republic, a revolution is brewing. When the rebels' messiah - like leader is captured, a New York production company swoops in to televise his execution - death by crucifixion - and an explosive chain of events ensues. Humorous, poetic and thought provoking, Resurrection Blues brilliantly satirises misguided global politics and the predatory nature of a media saturated culture," according to press notes for the play, which was completed a month before the legendary playwright's death on February 10th, 2005. Resurrection Blues will be presented in its London premiere.

Adams won a Tony Award for her performance in An Inspector Calls; Match, Enchanted April and The Crucible are other Broadway credits. She has appeared on screen in Wonder Boys, Mumford, Altman's Kansas City, Happiness and others. Campbell, who rose to fame on the TV series "Party of Five," has appeared on screen in The Craft, the Scream series, Wild Things, Three To Tango, Panic. A former dancer, she also appeared in Altman's The Company, a film about Chicago's Joffrey Ballet. McDonald is a British stage actor who has been seen in London in The Lieutenant of Inishmore and A Lie of The Mind, among others. Film and TV credits include "Sea of Souls," Blow Dry and I Went Down.

Modine's many film credits include Le Divorce, Bye Bye, Love, Pacific Heights, Married to the Mob, Altman's Short Cuts and Full Metal Jacket. He received an Emmy nod for his work in "And The Band Played On." Schell received an Academy Award for his work in Judgment at Nuremberg. He also performed in the Broadway play, and other Broadway credits include A Patriot for Me and Interlock. Screen credits also include Deep Impact, Vampires, The Freshman and many more. Wood received a Tony Award nomination for his work in Travesties, and received nominations for Rosencrantz and Guildenstern Are Dead and Sherlock Holmes. Tartuffe, Deathtrap and Amadeus are other credits.
