9Thirty Theatre Company (Jeff Burroughs, Artistic Director) announces "THE BIRDS" TO SAVE BIRDS, a benefit to support one of the country's first eco theatres and Tri-State Birds, a non-profit organization dedicated to saving and rehabilitating birds in the Gulf of Mexico. The benefit will take place from 7PM-11PM on July 25th at The Foundry.

Rebecca Naomi Jones, currently starring in American Idiot, will join fellow 9Thirty Artistic Ensemble members in a truncated reading of the play The Brown Pelican by George Sklar.

The benefit will feature complementary food and drinks by The Cleaver Co, Brooklyn Brewery and Crop Organic Vodka, thousands of dollars worth of raffle prizes, the reading of The Brown Pelican, and much more. Attendees will learn about the plight of the wildlife that has been affected by the Gulf of Mexico disaster and how New Yorkers can help in rehabilitation efforts.

The evening's proceeds will benefit 9Thrity Theatre Company's upcoming production of Aristophane's The Birds as well as Tri-State Birds Research and Rescue.

The Foundry is located at 42-38 9th St, Long Island City, NY 11101. Tax-deductable benefit tickets can be purchased for $75. Call (866) 811-4111 or visit www.9TTC.org.

9Thirty Theatre Company is one of New York City's first arts organization dedicated to encouraging writers, artists and designers to explore today's pressing ecological issues.  Jeff Burroughs officially founded 9Thirty Theatre Company (9TTC), one of New York City's first eco-theaters, in December of 2007 at 9:30AM. He sprung into action and began development of his vision for the company; combining his passion for the environment with art. As one of the country's first eco-theaters, 9TTC offers a platform for the expression of raw and vibrant talent while showcasing the intersection of environmental and artistic ideas, projects, and causes.

Our development began six years ago as a company of multi-disciplinary artists attending the prestigious University of North Carolina School for the Arts. Since then, we have artistically united one hundred and twenty alumni and around five hundred supporters within its community. Alumni of other well respected training institutions including NYU's Tish School of the Arts, Parsons, Sarah Lawrence, and others have quickly joined our cause. We are lucky enough to have the guidance of some of the nation's most innovative and celebrated artists including playwright Craig Lucas, who serves on our Advisory Board, along with Anthony Rapp, who starred in the original production of the legendary musical Rent, and Parker Russell Productions, which has produced many Off-Broadway shows (including the smash hit A Diva Christmas)

We are committed to advancing environmental causes, alongside industry leaders in sustainability, and green architecture and design. We have initiated productive dialogue with several firms and individuals, who inform the trajectory of our growth, and create opportunities for green initiatives that make a direct and immediate impact on our community.
