According to the New York Times, Tony Award winner Bill Sherman and Pulitzer Prize finalist Rajiv Joseph will collaborate on a new musical project entitled FLY, which will be a darker re-telling of Peter Pan and will premiere at Dallas Theater Center in summer 2013.

Rent and In the Heights producer Jeffrey Seller will direct for the first time. Seller had the original idea for FLY's Peter Pan story. Andy Blankenbuehler will choreograph. Playwright Kirsten Childs will co-write the show's lyrics. FLY is scheduled for a July 2-August 18, 2013 run. Currently, no plans to bring the show to New York exist, but the NY Times reports that the "show is likely to get a look for a future life."

The Center's 2012-2013 season will also include productions of a new play by Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa, of Spider-Man: Turn Off the Dark, and a new musical by Kim Kosenstock, of Tigers Be Still.

FLY marks Joseph's first musical creation. The playwright debuted last year with Bengal Tiger at the Baghdad Zoo, which was a finalist for the Pulitzer Prize. Joseph's other plays include All This Intimacy, Animals Out of Paper and Gruesome Playground Injuries.

Bill Sherman arranged the music and orchestration for the Broadway musical In the Heights. He won the 2008 Tony Award for Best Orchestrations for his involvement in the show.  Sherman's orchestrations were also nominated for the 2007 Drama Desk Awards for Outstanding Orchestrations.
