RSC Broadcasts KING LEAR in U.S. Cinemas Tonight

Beginning tonight, November 4, 2016, the Royal Shakespeare Company's acclaimed production of Shakespeare's King Lear will play in select movie houses across North America.

The production, which opened to rave reviews at the RSC's home in Stratford-upon-Avon, was filmed for "Live from Stratford-upon-Avon," the RSC program that screens the world's greatest classical theatre company from Shakespeare's home town around the world through a continued partnership with Picturehouse Entertainment.

From November 10 - December 23, 2016, King Lear will be playing at the Barbican Theatre in London.

King Lear has ruled for many years and as age begins to overtake him, he divides his kingdom amongst his children. But vanity clouds his judgment and soon he is left alone in the wilderness, confronting the mistakes of a life that has brought him to this point.

King Lear is directed by Gregory Doran and designed Niki Turner with music by Ilona Sekacz, lighting by Tim Mitchell, sound by Jonathan Ruddick, movement by Michael Ashcroft and fights by Bret Yount.
