Monty Python's SPAMALOT opens Raleigh Little Theatre's 2015/16 season on August 28th and plays through September 13th. It is the first all-local production of the musical in the Triangle. This adaptation of "Monty Python and the Holy Grail" tells the story of King Arthur and his Knights of the Roundtable as they embark on a quest. SPAMALOT is the first musical under the direction of Patrick Torres since he became RLT's Artistic Director in August 2014, and the 2015/16 season is the first he has planned. Patrick states "from the first time my brother introduced me to "Monty Python and the Holy Grail," I have found almost daily reasons to quote lines from the movie, so directing SPAMALOT has been a great reminder of the power of comedy and the healing power of a good belly laugh."

RLT will also debut a new state of the art hearing loop system during this production thanks to the generous lead support of the Jandy Ammons Foundation. Patrons who have hearing aids or cochlear implants with telecoils (or t-coils) will now be able to tune in to a clarified broadcast signal coming directly from the stage. For patrons who do not have hearing aids with t-coils, headsets will be available at front of house for each performance.

Hearing Loss Association of America (HLAA), Wake Chapter, is excited about the new loop system installation in the Sutton Theatre. Many people with hearing loss have withdrawn and abandoned live theatre because they just couldn't hear well enough to enjoy a play; others have used FM or InfraRed systems available in some theatres. While these other systems can often help, they involve borrowing receivers, and headphones or neck loops. But with the new audio loop installed in the Sutton Theatre, patrons with t-coils will be able to hear without the inconvenience of extra equipment and enjoy live theatre again.

Most hearing aids and all recent cochlear implants have telecoils that can receive a loop signal. Device(s) with telecoils should be activated by hearing health providers who can also demonstrate how to switch to telecoil mode. For questions about loops, telecoils or HLAA, email Steve Barber (steve.barber@earthlink.net), who represents HLAA-Wake Chapter. There is also a presentation named Loops and Telecoils at www.nchearingloss.org/programs.htm.

For all patrons, RLT will present a free screening of "Monty Python and the Holy Grail" in the Stephenson Amphitheatre on August 9th. This will be the final movie in the 2015 series "Movies in the Garden," sponsored by Raleigh Brewing Company and Live It Up Hillsborough. For more information on the series, visit http://raleighlittletheatre.org/events/movies.html.

Additional support for the new hearing loop system comes from the City of Raleigh, North Carolina Audiology Associates and Dr. Cindy Shaffer, and Siemens Corporation. The system was installed by American Hearing Loop.

"Monty Python's SPAMALOT" runs August 28 - September 13 in the Cantey V. Sutton Theatre. Tickets for all events at RLT can be purchased by calling the box office (919)-821-3111, Monday through Friday, noon to 5:00 p.m., or by visiting the theatre's website at www.raleighlittletheatre.org.
