Prospect Theater Company will present RIFFNOTES: The Musical as part of the 2014 New York Musical Theatre Festival. Performances will be held today, July 25 at 1pm and Saturday, July 26 at 11am at The PTC Performance Space (555 W. 42nd Street). The announcement was made today by Cara Reichel and Melissa Huber, Producing Artistic Director and Managing Director of Prospect Theater Company.

In RIFFNOTES: The Musical, six quirky teens in a high school summer enrichment program go on a journey of personal discovery as they tackle classic books and re-imagine iconic stories through the lens of high school hijinks, social media, and even beloved Broadway musicals. RIFFNOTES includes musical spoofs of summer reading list favorites, including Pride & Prejudice, Macbeth, Moby Dick and more! This culminating showcase performance for Prospect's Summer Intensive Program features an array of brand-new songs and ten-minute musicals by some of New York's most exciting emerging writers.

The premiere cast of RIFFNOTES: The Musical features Prospect's 2014 Summer Intensive Students: Evelyn Benson, Aegis Duensing, Emrys Duensing, Will Flamm, Alex Ginsburg,
Dorée Gordon, Susana Gutierrez, Ines Hidalgo, Adeira Hunter, Cassidy James, Naima Kane,
Irena Kogarova, Piers Kryslak, Sterling Lipscomb, Jimmy Nam, Alex O'Shea, Lily Otsea,
Violet Prete, Darci Siegel, Adja Thomas, and Deryka Tso.

The show is written by Tim O?Leary & Britt Bonney, Eric March, Peter Mills, Jason Purdy,
Jason Purdy & Yan Li, and Jenny Stafford & Willem Oosthuysen. Writer biographies are below.

RIFFNOTES: The Musical will be directed by Dev Bondarin. Peter Mills is the music director, and the associate music director is Daniel Maté. Choreography is by Simone Zamore. The show is curated by Dev Bondarin and Cara Reichel.
