RIALTO CHATTER: New Patti LuPone Concert to be Filmed for HBO Special

BroadwayWorld has confirmed that Patti LuPone's latest concert, Patti LuPone: The Gypsy In My Soul, which she performs tonight, February 1, at the Overture Center in Madison, Wisconsin will be filmed for an HBO documentary special. Patrons of tonight's concert were alerted via an email today of the HBO filming.

While no official announcement of the HBO doc has been made, and details of an air date are forthcoming. 

In the concert, LuPone distills her legendary, 40-year career into one evening, delivering tunes from Gypsy, Anything Goes, and Oliver!, as well as some of her personal pop favorites.

Patti LuPone is best known for her Tony Award-winning performances as Eva Perón in the 1979 stage musical Evita, as Rose in the 2008 Broadway revival of Gypsy, and for her Olivier Award-winning performance as Fantine in the original London cast of Les Misérables as well as her similarly nominated portrayal of Norma Desmond in the first production of Sunset Boulevard. She has starred in dozens of some of the most famous shows on Broadway and in the West End, including Sweeney Todd, Anything Goes, Company, Oliver! and more. She was last seen on Broadway alongside her Evita co-star Mandy Patinkin in An Evening With Patti LuPone and Mandy Patinkin.
