The New York Times reports that Bernadette Peters and Martin Short are in talks with producers about co-starring as "Agnes Snow" and "Michael Snow" in a revival of Tom Jones and Harvey Schmidt's I DO! I DO!  Talks about the possible revival are in the earliest phases and no readings or workshops have been planned. The producers behind the revival are Craig Zadan and Neil Meron (Promises, Promises, How To Succeed In Business Without Really Trying, Smash), and Broadway Across America's John Gore and Beth Williams.

Based on the Jan De Hartog play The Fourposter, this two-character story spans fifty years, from 1895 to 1945, and focuses on the marriage of Agnes and Michael Snow.

I DO! I DO! premiered on Broadway starring Mary Martin and Robert Preston on December 5, 1966 at the 46th Street Theatre, where it ran for 560 performances.

The show was later adapted for the screen by Gower Champion and starred Julie Andrews and Dick Van Dyke in 1969, however the film was never made. A television version with Lee Remick and Hal Linden was broadcast in 1982.

The most recent New York stage incarnation in 1996 featured David Garrison and Karen Ziemba off-Broadway revival at the Lamb's Theater.
