Auditions are currently underway for Prospect Theater Company's annual Musical Theater Summer Intensive for students aged 12-17. Beginning July 8 and running through July 27, students will participate in a daily musical theater training program from 10am - 6pm.

This year, Prospect will partner with the 2013 New York Musical Theatre Festival for its showcase performances. The Summer Intensive showcase will be part of the festival line-up, with public performances on Friday, July 26 and Saturday, July 27 at 1pm.

The announcement was made today by Cara Reichel and Melissa Huber, Producing Artistic Director and Managing Director of Prospect Theater Company.

Auditions for the program are currently in progress. To schedule an audition, or for more information, please email Summer@ProspectTheater.org or call (212) 594-4476.

The showcase features an original musical revue starring the talented teens from Prospect's Musical Theater Summer Intensive, with a mix of brand new songs by some of New York's most exciting emerging writers as well as student-generated material. The showcase is written by Kristin Bair and Kevin Hammonds, EllaRose Chary and Sooyeon Lee, Laura Kleinbaum and Max Mamon, John Herin and Alden Terry, and additional names to be announced. The presentation is curated and co-directed by Dev Bondarin and Cara Reichel.

Tickets ($15) will be available for sale beginning June 17 at www.ProspectTheater.org, www.nymf.org or by calling (212) 352-3101.

The showcase performances will be held at The Romulus Linney Courtyard Theater at The Pershing Square Signature Center (480 West 42nd Street, NYC).

In keeping with Prospect Theater Company's mission to support the next generation of musical theater artists, the company's 2013 Musical Theater Summer Intensive, under the guidance of Summer Intensive Program Director Rachel Dart and Prospect's Director of Education Simone Zamore, will be an opportunity for young performers and writers with a passion for musicals to build their skills by working directly with Prospect artists.

During the course of the three-week program, participants will work with a professional stage director and music director to rehearse and present a new musical revue, premiering original songs and monologues written expressly for young people by some of New York's most exciting emerging composers and lyricists, as well as new material created with student writing participants.

This year, in addition to a performance opportunity, Prospect is expanding the program to include an opportunity for students interested in musical theater writing to learn scene and songwriting skills. All students will also have the opportunity to participate in a variety of workshops and coaching sessions, as well as master classes with guest artists and Broadway performers, to deepen general knowledge of theatre practice, strengthen vocal and acting technique, and enhance overall confidence.

Participant tuition for the 3-week program is $950 per student.
