Point to Where It Hurts to Bring New Relevance to Sartre's NO EXIT in the Age of Trump

"No Exit" by Jean Paul Sartre, translated by Stewart Gilbert, will take on a new relevance in the age of Trump with Point to Where It Hurts Productions.

In Sartre's existential drama, three characters are placed in a mysterious room with no way out. Desperately trying to decipher the truth behind their situation, they discover how inextricably intertwined their fates are.

This classic yet timeless play, written in 1944 as an allegory to Fascism, demonstrates that Sartre's philosophy remains relevant in the age of Trump-divided, polarized, and filled with "fake news" propaganda. "No Exit" serves as a balm today as it did for the broken morale of the French people during the German occupation.

This play is about what happens when history is forgotten and is staged to honor the script as Sartre intended-truthfully with emotional intensity. With three MFA alums from Actor's Studio Drama School directing and acting in this piece, their years of concentrated training results in high-impact ensemble acting and delivers exceptional performances. Listening, being authentic, and moment to moment reacting display the depths of their realistic performances. Chinatown Soup, an art gallery, provides an imaginative environment for an immersive audience experience, enabling the audience to understand, "Hell is other people..."
