Pittsburgh Cultural Trust to Host Sketch Crawl, 5/10

The Pittsburgh Cultural Trust announces its spring Sketch Crawl throughout Downtown Pittsburgh and the North Shore. This free, all-ages, six-hour drawing marathon takes place Saturday, May 10, 2014, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. With Sketch Crawl guide and local artist Rick Antolic, participants draw what they see as they make their way through some of Downtown's and the North Shore's most scenic spaces, stopping at five locations to sketch. Sketch Crawl Schedule

10:00 a.m.: Check-in at Trust Arts Education Center, 805/807 Liberty Avenue

10:15-11:15 a.m.: 7th and Penn Parklet & Agnes R. Katz Plaza, Cultural District

11:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m.: Under the 7th Street Bridge, North Shore

12:35-1:30 p.m.: Under the 6th Street Bridge, North Shore by PNC Park

1:45-2:45 p.m.: The Point, Point State Park

3:00-4:00 p.m.: Market Square, Downtown

"The diverse range of people who participate each year in the Sketch Crawl highlights the vibrancy of Pittsburgh's art community," says Rick Antolic. "I've moderated the Sketch Crawl for the past few years, and I'm always heartened to see familiar faces, and enthused about seeing new ones."

Participants must bring their own art supplies, sketch book, and lunch. Children ages 16 and under must be accompanied by an adult. Sketch Crawl is a production of the Pittsburgh Cultural Trust's Education and Community Engagement Department.

Rick Antolic is an award-winning illustrator, whose talents include fine art, illustration, design, writing, and promotion of the arts. He recently completed a four-year term as president of the Pittsburgh Society of Illustrators, the second largest society of illustrators in the United States. His experience encompasses publishing, product development, technical illustration, public relations, and museum exhibitions. Antolic's illustrations are held in private collections across the country and as far away as Dresden, Germany, and Omiya, Japan.
