Pittsburgh Cultural Trust Announces CHRISTMAS IN JULY at Market Square, 7/17

The Pittsburgh Cultural Trust announces Christmas in July, a special event being held during the Pittsburgh Downtown Partnership's Market Square Farmer's Market on Thursday, July 17th from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. in downtown Pittsburgh.

Christmas in July promises an afternoon of entertainment and special offers as the holiday season arrives early in Pittsburgh. Featuring performances by cast members from IRVING BERLIN'S WHITE CHRISTMAS, coming to the Benedum Center this November 18-23, and the CLO Mini Stars, the event is hosted by Ron Antill and Sara Lockard of the WISH 99.7 FM Morning Crew.

"The Trust is pleased to be collaborating with other cultural district organizations to present Christmas In July," shared Paul Organisak, vice president of programming for the Pittsburgh Cultural Trust. "This event captures the joy of the holiday season in the middle of summer and provides the perfect opportunity to do a bit of early and artful gift shopping for family and friends."

Performance Information

Cast members from IRVING BERLIN'S WHITE CHRISTMAS, will be performing select numbers from the holiday musical at this year's Christmas in July event. Described by the New York Daily News as "a holiday card come to life," IRVING BERLIN'S WHITE CHRISTMAS tells the story of two showbiz buddies putting on a show in a picturesque Vermont inn, and finding their perfect mates in the bargain. Full of dancing, romance, laughter and some of the greatest songs ever written, including "Count Your Blessings Instead of Sheep," "Happy Holiday," "Sisters," "Blue Skies," and the unforgettable title song, IRVING BERLIN'S WHITE CHRISTMAS, promises to be a merry and bright experience for the entire family!

In addition to the traditional booths featuring vendors from the People's Gas Holiday Market, attendees will get a special summertime visit from Santa himself and be entertained by the CLO Mini Stars. For over 30 years, the Pittsburgh CLO Mini Stars have built a reputation as Pittsburgh's leading young performance company. This talented group of 21 young professional artists range in age from 12-16, have been featured at numerous high-profile events, including Governor Rendell's 2007 Inaugural Bash and Pittsburgh's First Night celebration, as well as at Walt Disney's Epcot Center.
