Pipeline Theatre Company will present THE ASH GIRL by Tony Award nominee Timberlake Wertenbaker (Our Country's Good). Jessika Doyel (Partial Comfort) directs this unconventional adaptation of Grimm's Cinderella tale. Performances run April 18 - May 5 at The Connelly Theater (220 East 4th Street between Ave A & B).

In THE ASH GIRL, the seven deadly sins writhe in the forest, consuming anyone who crosses their paths while a young girl hides amongst the ashes. As Ash Girl fights through the fires to find her happy ending, relive the wonder and fear that Cinderella stories so often gloss over. It is a world of mythical proportions with fairies in the mirror, brave field mice, and stepmothers with only the best of intentions.

THE ASH GIRL stars Meagan Kensil in the title role and War Horse's Ian Lassiter as the Prince with Sam Chapin, Jenny Donheiser, Megan Linde, Kate Manfre, Sydney Matthews, Dawn Newman, Shane O'Grady, Teddy Rodger, Rebecca Schoeffer, Ari Schrier, Arielle Siegel, Erica Smith, Jordan Smith, Nicole Spiezio, Camille St. James, Josh Woodward, and Zachary Zimbler.  The production team includes Andy Yanni (set), Jeffrey Toombs (lighting), Raphael Mishler (props), Seth Clayton (sound), and Abbey Steere (costumes).

Timberlake Wertenbaker's Our Country's Good was nominated for six 1991 Tony Awards including Best Play. She is also the author of nearly two dozen original plays including The Grace of Mary Traverse, Three Birds Alighting on a Field and Credible Witness, as well as translations and adaptations of works by Ariane Mnouchkine, Jean Anouilh, Sophocles and Racine.  She is the recipient of awards including Writers' Guild Award, London Critic's Circle Theater Award for Best West End Play, Laurence Olivier/BBC Award, New York Drama Critics' Circle Award and the Susan Smith Blackburn Prize.

Jessika Doyel's directing and assisting credits include Eukiah (Atlantic Acting School), Orange Flower Water (Atlantic Stage 2), The Caucasian Chalk Circle (dir. Anya Saffir/Pipeline Theater Company), The Seagull (dir.Anya Saffir), 10X25 (dir. Leslie Ayvazian/Atlantic), Felix & The Diligence (dir. Daniel Johnsen/Pipeline Theater Company). She is company manager and a member of the Drama Desk-nominated Partial Comfort Productions.

Founded in 2009, Pipeline Theatre Company is a downtown Manhattan-based non-profit theater company, comprised of 25 emerging actors, directors, writers and designers.
