Pianist Shai Wosner will play an all-Schubert program for his first solo recital at the Mostly Mozart Festival in the Stanley H. Kaplan Penthouse at Lincoln Center on Friday, August 10 at 10:30 pm. The program includes Schubert’s Impromptus Nos. 1 and 2, and the Sonata in A Major, D. 959. He will also perform in a recital with clarinetist Martin Fröst and soprano Lisette Oropesa in the Stanley H. Kaplan Penthouse at Lincoln Center on Friday, August 24 at 10:30 pm. This recital will feature Schubert’s The Shepherd on the Rock and Hungarian Melody, and Brahms’ Clarinet Sonata in F minor and Hungarian Dances. Presented as part of Lincoln Center’s Mostly Mozart Festival, the A Little Night Music series features recitals and chamber music in intimate, hour-long performances at the Kaplan Penthouse overlooking Lincoln Center with views of Manhattan.

Tickets for the performances are $45 and can be purchased online at MostlyMozart.org, by calling CenterCharge at (212) 721-6500, or by visiting the Avery Fisher Hall or Alice Tully Hall box offices at Broadway and 65th Street.

Mr. Wosner, last heard at the Mostly Mozart Festival in recital with violinist Jennifer Koh in 2011, is often commended for his clever programming and keen musical intellect. In October 2011 Mr. Wosner released his second recital album on the Onyx label. Highlighting an exclusive selection of solo piano works by Franz Schubert, the recording includes Piano Sonata in C major, D. 840 and Piano Sonata in D major, D. 850, Six German Dances D. 820 and the little known Hungarian Melody D. 817, which he will perform at the Mostly Mozart recital on August 24. This album follows Mr. Wosner’s critically acclaimed debut recording which juxtaposed works by Brahms and Schoenberg released by Onyx in October 2010. In a January 2012 review of Mr. Wosner’s Schubert album, Gramophone magazine said ”With this recital Shai Wosner declares himself a Schubertian of unfaltering authority and character.”

Following the Mostly Mozart Festival, the 2012-13 season has Mr. Wosner performing these Schubert works in Vermont in February 2013 and in Washington D.C. in May 2013. He also has engagements in Germany, Italy, California, and Philadelphia.
