Following the buzz of last year's Bug, Who Wants Cake? offers another powerhouse Tracy Letts play: the pitch black, trailer-trash comedy, Killer Joe. Opening Friday, April 3 rd and playing for an exclusive four-week engagement ending on Monday, April 27 th , Killer Joe will play Fridays-Mondays at Ferndale's popular Ringwald Theatre.

Killer Joe tells the story of the dysfunctionAl Smith family, desperately and disastrously trying to organize the murder of one its members for financial gain. Into their world comes Killer Joe Cooper (Joel Mitchell), full-time cop and part-time assassin.

But when they are unable to pay up, Joe asks for a retainer that is all too close to home. With echoes of Tarantino and Sam Shepard, this thriller won awards and rave reviews in London and off-Broadway. Alternating between humor and menace, Killer Joe is at once clever, suspenseful, subtle, complex, deeply funny and riveting.

Warning: Killer Joe contains nudity, cigarette smoke, gunshots, violence, and adult situations (some involving fried chicken).

Killer Joe is Tracy Letts first play which premiered in Chicago in1993 and has since been performed in ten countries in over a dozen languages. His second play, Bug, premiered in London in 1996 and has also had numerous productions across the world including a successful run last winter at The Ringwald Theatre.

Mr. Letts recently received the Pulitzer Prize and Tony Award for August: Osage County. Who Wants Cake? opened the doors to their resident home, The Ringwald, in May 2007 with Fatal Attraction: A Greek Tragedy. Quickly, The Ringwald became a mainstay of Detroit's theatre community.

Their first season offered up slice after slice of successful shows including Southern Baptist Sissies, Debbie Does Dallas: The Musical, Bug, and The Facts of Life: The Lost Episode. Who Wants Cake? was named the 2008 Best Theatre Group in Channel 4's Vote 4 The Best contest.
