Michael Weller's comedy Loose Ends, opened on March 15th at T. Schreiber Studio (TSS). The play runs through April 15th at the award-winning T. Schreiber Studio located at 151 West 26th Street, 7th Floor (between 6th & 7th Ave.), New York.

Mr. Weller is best known for his plays Moonchildren and Spoils of War. He has also received great acclaim including an Academy Award nomination, N.A.A.C.P. Outstanding Contribution Award, Critics Outer Circle Award, Rockefeller Foundation Grant, and a Kennedy Center Fund for New American Plays Award, among others. Loose Ends was originally produced by Circle in the Square in 1979. The Broadway production starred Kevin Kline in the leading role.

Loose Ends is directed by the founder and Artistic Director of TSS, Terry Schreiber. Mr. Schreiber has numerous Broadway and Off-Broadway directing credits including the Tony-nominated play K2, The Trip Back Down starring John Cullum, and Devour the Snow. Off-Broadway directing credits include Desire Under the Elms at The Roundabout Theatre with Kathy Baker and Feedlot at Circle Repertory with Jeff Daniels. Loose Ends is produced by Leah Faye Caddigan, Producing Director of TSS.

Set against the backdrop of the turbulent 1970s, Loose Ends follows the relationship of Paul and Susan who first meet on a beach in Bali. Paul, a recent Peace Corps dropout and Susan, an aspiring photographer, later marry in Boston where the young couple struggle with their conflicting opinions on the importance of having a career versus having a family.

The cast features Teruaki Akai (Comfort Woman/MITF), Maggie Alexander (Fifty Words by Michael Weller/LungTree Productions), Jason Asher (Born Liars/Abingdon Theatre), Gregory Barone (Speed Play/Schreiber Shorts), Loren Bidner (Lady Windermere's Fan directed by Moises Kaufman/Williamstown Theatre Festival), Erik Endsley (Drowning Ophelia/Philadelphia Fringe Festival), Melanie Glancy (Loves Labour's Lost/Don Powell Theatre San Diego), Ivan Sandomire (Ang Lee's Film, Taking Woodstock), Gus Solomons jr. (Dancer for Martha Graham), Sarah Mae Vink (War Horse/Belgium & Holland Tour), and Hui-Shan Yong (A Perfect Wedding/Atlantic Acting School).

The creative team includes set design by George Allison, sound design by Andy Evan Cohen, costume design by Hope Governali, properties design by Clarissa Marie Ligon, lighting design by Dennis Parichy, stage management by Tai Thompson, observing director Sharifa Williams, and assistant director Joan Kane.

Michael Weller (Playwright) studied music composition at Brandeis University, then worked as a jazz pianist before taking his graduate degree in theater at the University of Manchester, England. His best-known plays are Moonchildren, Fishing, Loose Ends, and Spoils Of War. Films include Hair, Ragtime, and a teleplay of Spoils of War. He co-founded (with Angelina Fiordelissi and Suzanne Brinkley) and serves now as supervising mentor of the Mentor Project of the Cherry Lane Theatre. Mr. Weller's work has received an Academy Award nomination, an N.A.A.C.P. Outstanding Contribution Award, Critics Outer Circle Award, a Rockefeller Foundation Grant and a Kennedy Center Fund for New American Plays Award, and has been honored by The Broken Watch Theatre Company which gave their playhouse his name. He is on the counsel of the Writer's Guild Fund and the Dramatists Guild of America.

Terry Schreiber (Director) has been teaching and directing for over 48 years and was featured in Eva Mekler's, The New Generation of Acting Teachers (Penguin Books). On Broadway he directed the Tony-nominated play K2, The Trip Back Down starring John Cullum, and Devour the Snow. Off-Broadway directing credits include Desire Under the Elms at The Roundabout Theatre with Kathy Baker and Feedlot at Circle Repertory with Jeff Daniels. He has directed at regional theatres around the country including The Guthrie Theatre, Syracuse Stage, Hartman Theatre Co., Pittsburgh Public Theatre, Buffalo Arena Stage (directing Celeste Holm and Betty Buckley), and George Street Playhouse. Internationally, Mr. Schreiber has directed numerous American plays in Japan and has taught at the French American Cinema Theatre in Paris. As the founder and Artistic Director of TSS, he has directed numerous productions including Tennessee William's Summer and Smoke, Yasmine B. Rana's The Fallen and Blood Sky, and Paula Vogel's How I Learned to Drive.

T. Schreiber Studio/Theatre, under the Artistic Direction of Terry Schreiber and Peter Jensen, began operations in conjunction with Terry Schreiber's acting studio in 1969, at the beginning of the Off-Off Broadway movement. Their mission was to advance the art of acting by creating an environment in which rigorous professional training, tested by the demands of performance, achieves fulfillment in an Off-Off Broadway venue. This nourishes artists through lifelong membership and engages a diverse audience. Since its inception, TSS has been awarded numerous Backstage Readers' Choice Awards and has been singled out by Show Business Weekly as one of the top New York Performances of 2011 for their production of Balm in Gilead. In addition, the theatre has been nominated for over 30 NYIT Awards, winning several, including Outstanding Production of a Play for their production of Balm in Gilead.
