THE BULL OF HEAVEN by Jeff Dailey The plot deals with the friendship/love of the Sumerian king Gilgamesh for the stranger, Enkidu, and their subsequent defeat of the Bull of Heaven, which is sent to kill them. Following the thesis proposed in Susan Ackerman's 2005 study, When Heroes Love, we imagine a romantic relationship between Gilgamesh and Enkidu. This is not a regular sort of play. Not all of the characters speak; much of the action is carried out while The Storyteller narrates it. We are calling it a "movement drama," because much of the action takes place without speaking. It is not dance. If anything, it resembles butoh, in its slow and careful movements. Performing Tues 11/17, 9:00pm; Sat 11/21, 9:00pm; Sun 11/22, 1:15pm
