Harry Belafonte paid a visit to the long-running hit, Sistas: The Musical at St. Luke's Theatre. After thoroughly enjoying the show, Mr. Belafonte greeted the cast and stayed long enough to pose with them. Check out a photo below!

Mr. Belafonte had heard about SISTAS and had asked to catch Sunday's performance. Last year SISTAS was filmed before a live audience and this past June, the DVD film was released. Mr. Belafonte is no stranger to New York's stages having appeared in a number of revues and produced several works including the comedy, Moonbirds (1954) and Asinamali (1987).

Directed by Kenneth Ferrone, Sistas The Musical features an all-female cast including Tracey Conyer Lee, Jennifer Fouche, Amy Goldberger, April Nixon and Lexi Rhoades. The musical journey weaves an emotionally compelling story with exultant musical performances. Let the spirit lift you higher with Sistas The Musical.

With news of their grandmother's passing, a group of sisters come together to pick a song to honor their grandmother's legacy at her memorial service. Going through their grandmother's keepsakes, the women uncover mementos that testify to their grandmother's profound contributions to their family history and their community. In the process, the sisters tell their stories through the many indelible songs that trace the rich and conflicted history of Black women that span the days of Jim Crow, the 60's Girl Groups, the emerging female empowerment of the 90's, and the unique challenges of today's youth. With classic musical hits including Oh...Happy Day, Precious Lord, Stormy Weather, R.E.S.P.E.C.T., Say a Little Prayer, Tyrone, I Have Nothing, Single Ladies and A Woman's Worth, Sistas The Musical orchestrates an exciting and moving evolutionary concerto of African-American women.

Written by Fulbright Scholar Dr. Dorothy Marcic, Sistas The Musical was filmed at St. Paul's Community Baptist Church in Brooklyn, New York. The show is currently being performed Off Broadway in its second year in Manhattan before enthusiastic live audiences.
