Photo Flash: First Look at Leslie Caveny's ONE WOMAN GONE WRONG at FringeNYC
The New York International Fringe Festival can be a fantastic place to see some talented names let their hair down and take to the stage. That's the case with the team from One Woman Gone Wrong, which will have performances at The Players Theatre over the course of the festival. Scroll down for a first look at the show!
From EMMY AWARD Winner Leslie Caveny, writer of hits like "Everybody Loves Raymond" and "Penelope," comes a new play that shows what it's like to fail loudly! Is she lost in the part or losing her freaking mind?! Plagued by thespian opportunists and vindictive techies, the unstrung star of this train-wreck-waiting-to-happen proves doing live theatre, no matter how badly, can't kill you. Or can it...?! Featuring Mommy Dearest's Rutanya Alda, this light and hopeful new play is destined to be a standout!
In this ONE-WOMAN-SHOW-GONE-WRONG, a solo performer takes us on a comedic and heartfelt Pirandello-esque journey as she struggles to stay on mission and tell the painful story of her childhood. Suddenly fearing how the story and her need to tell it will be received, she does everything possible to avoid it -- excuse, abuse, rant, sing, and rage -- ultimately turning this solo show into a play with a cast of five, as those around her, Matt the Lighting Guy, Sally her Friend on Book, and her Mother in the Audience, get dragged into the action. It' s not just a show gone wrong, it's a life gone wrong. But tonight is the night she's going to set them both right by refusing to give up on either.
The New York International Fringe Festival presents ONE WOMAN GONE WRONG through August 24th. Tickets: $18-$24. To purchase, visit www.fringeNYC.org. For more information on One Woman Gone Wrong visit www.onewomangonewrong.com.
