It was Father's Day at A JEW GROWS IN BROOKLYN this weekend when Fyvush Finkle and his son visited the show on Sunday. Star Jake Ehrenreich's son also made an appearance. See the photos below!

A JEW GROWS IN BROOKLYN, Jake Ehrenreich’s acclaimed comedy and musical memoir, is now in performances Off-Broadway at the Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis Theater (120 West 46th Street) following a highly successful North American Tour and a book of the same name. The show began performances May 2nd. John Huberth directs.

A JEW GROWS IN BROOKLYN is the story of a first generation American born son of Holocaust survivors in 1960’s Brooklyn, and his journey from denial to acceptance to rebirth. Ehrenreich weaves stories, tells jokes, and performs the popular music of both his and his parent’s generations. Along the way, he demonstrates--from adolescence in Brooklyn, to the classic Catskills, to fatherhood and beyond--how survivors learn to live and laugh again, and the choices we all have. With the help of a visual multi-media set, including archival video and photos, he weaves philosophy into personal history.

Jake Ehrenreich (Performer/Creator) has appeared on Broadway in Dancin, Barnum and They're Playing Our Song and touredinternationally as Ringo in Beatlemania. Off-Broadway performances include the title role for Joseph Papp in Jonah, at The Public Theater, Songs of Paradise and The Golden Land. Jake was a bandleader at the Rainbow Room in NYC, and has toured and recorded and with such diverse artists as Richie Havens, Greg Allman, Tito Puente, Cab Calloway and the Smothers Brothers. Jacob Issac Ehrenreich is named for his grandfathers lost in the Holocaust. His parents and two sisters arrived in the US in 1949 and this show is dedicated to all of them.

After its sold-out world premiere engagement Off-Broadway in April of 2006. A JEW GROWS IN BROOKLYN moved to The Lamb's Theatre where it broke house records before the fabled venue's imminent shuttering forced it to leave and transfer to the 37 Arts Theatre in October of 2007.
