Chita Rivera, fresh from her appearance on The Tony Awards Sunday, presented her old-friend Sound Designer Abe Jacob the Lifetime Achievement Award. They've known each other for more than 40 years since the original Broadway production of CHICAGO in 1975. Check out photos below!

In addition to bestowing the Lifetime Achievement Award to Abe Jacob, Live Design honored Jacob by creating The Abe Jacob Award for Excellence in Sound Design as a permanent annual award.

"I'm thrilled that the work of future theatrical sound designers will continue to be acknowledged," Jacob says, "but it's bittersweet as our work on Broadway is no longer recognized by the Tony Awards."

Hal Prince was on hand to present to Tony Award-winning scenic designer Beowulf Boritt.

Fellow Sound Designers - Nevin Steinberg (HAMILTON) and Jonathan Deans (WAITRESS, FINDING NEVERLAND) and others attended to cheer for Abe. Jacob has mentored the majority of the sound designers working in the theatre today and is affectionately known as the Godfather of Sound.

Others honored included Tony Award-winning Lighting Designer Natasha Katz (LONG DAY'S JOURNEY INTO NIGHT) and other top designers, technologists, cutting-edge products for the entertainment industry and exceptional international projects.

Live Design is a live entertainment design and technology magazine. www.livedesignonline.com
