Photo Coverage: Stars in the Alley

It may have rained, but fans still poured into Shubert Alley to catch "Stars in the Alley," which was held on June 7th beginning at 11 AM. Presented by Continental Airlines, the free concert, which is held annually, celebrates the end of the theatre season with musical numbers from Broadway's biggest shows

Jena Malone (Doubt), Rita Wilson (Chicago), Lucie Arnaz (Dirty Rotten Scoundrels), Samuel Barnett (The History Boys), Kate Burton (The Constant Wife), Sutton Foster (The Drowsy Chaperone), David Garrison (Wicked), Jonathan Hadary (Awake and Sing!), Carol Kane (Wicked), Judy Kaye (Souvenir), Cynthia Nixon (Rabbit Hole), Ian McDiarmid (Faith Healer), Alison Pill (The Lieutenant of Inishmore), Oliver Platt (Shining City), Jonathan Pryce (Dirty Rotten Scoundrels), Pablo Schreiber (Awake and Sing!), and David Wilmot (The Lieutenant of Inishmore) were among the stars to appear at the concert, which featured performances from Avenue Q, Chicago, The Color Purple, The Drowsy Chaperone, Hairspray, Jersey Boys, The Light in the Piazza, Mamma Mia!, The Phantom of the Opera, The Producers, Rent, Spamalot, Sweeney Todd, The Wedding Singer, The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee and more. Dirty Rotten Scoundrels' Lucie Arnaz and Jonathan Pryce presented annual Star award, which recognizes an individual in public or government service who has demonstrated significant support for Broadway. This year's award was presented to Christine C. Quinn, Speaker of the City Council.

The 60th Annual Tony Awards will be broadcast live from Radio City Music Hall on CBS from 8 to 11 PM.

Ben Strothmann Ben Strothmann has been a portrait and theatrical photographer since 1995. Since building his first darkroom in his hometown of Milwaukee WI, his portrait studio now looks out over Manhattan where he shoots headshots and production photos. Born to a famous cheesecake lady (Suzy Strothmann of Suzy's Cream Cheesecakes), Ben is also an actor and pianist. Currently he lives in Astoria and studies guitar and Icelandic. Ben is also a volunteer for The Heart Gallery (heartgallerynyc.org) and helps NYC foster children find permanent, loving families.
