Photo Coverage: Quest & Jones at Scavullo Gallery Opening
The Gallery at New World Stages, the two floor exhibition space at New York's preeminent home for Off-Broadway productions in the heart of the theater district, is presenting "Francesco Scavullo: A Photographic Retrospective," which opened on Thursday, September 28th and continues through November 2nd. Although there have been many exhibitions of Scavullo's work over the years, this is the largest exhibition of his work ever mounted.
Among those who attended were film star Sylvia Miles, original Village People cowboy Randy Jones and adult film star Spencer Quest, who is joining the cast of Naked Boys Singing! at New World Stages on October 13th.
"Francesco Scavullo photographed the most famous personalities of the 20th century. He had a productive and brilliant career until he died at the age of 82. Francesco Scavullo shot every cover of Cosmopolitan for thirty years and created numerous photographs for Vogue, Rolling Stone, Interview, Town & Country, Seventeen, Harper's Bazaar, Elle and other top fashion magazines throughout the world," according to press materials.
Scavullo's photographs are part of the Permanent Collection of the Metropolitan Museum of Art, MOMA, Guggenheim and the Amon Carter Museum in Fort Worth, Texas. Both portfolios, 'Song' and 'Hollywood Women,' may be seen at www.scavulloeditions.com. For more on New World Stages, visit www.newworldstages.com.
