On Monday, November 1, the Japan Society presented the lecture Pacific Overtures: An Evening with Amon Miyamoto, Stephen Sondheim & John Weidman. The lecture was moderated by New York Times writer Stephen Holden.

The evening featureed a discussion on the upcoming production of Pacific Overtures at the Roundabout Theatre and its legacy. Amon Miyamoto directs the production (performed in English and with an all Asian-American cast), the musical's composer-lyricist Stephen Sondheim, and the play's author John Weidman. Also included in the program was a sampling of music from the show, performed live.
