Photo Coverage: Donna McKechnie at Barnes & Noble
On October 6th at 7 PM, Tony Award-winner Donna McKechnie appeared at Barnes & Noble Lincoln Triangle (1972 Broadway at 66th St.) for a book signing of Time Steps: My Musical Comedy Life, her recently released autobiography.
Joining the star were Kurt Peterson, Harvey Evans (both of Follies), and Priscilla Lopez (A Chorus Line), who sang songs from the shows with which they are associated. Angel Desai (Marta in upcoming Company) also performed at the event.
McKechnie won a Tony Award for her iconic performance as Cassie in A Chorus Line, and has also appeared on Broadway in State Fair, Company (both the original and Roundabout revival), On The Town, Promises, Promises, and How To Succeed in Business Without Really Trying, in which she made her Broadway debut. Her regional credits include playing Sally in Follies at the Paper Mill Playhouse and Carlotta in the same show for the Barrington Stage Company. Acclaimed for her vocal and acting talents as well as for her virtuoso dancing skills, McKechnie was also married to legendary director/choreographer Michael Bennett for a time.
Time Steps, which was co-written with Greg Lawrence and was released on September 6th, is dedicated to McKechnie's sister Barbara, her brother Ron and to the memory of Carolyn Ruth and Donald Bruce McKechnie, her parents. Time Steps, published by Simon & Schuster, is 304 pages in hardback.
