People's Light will host Girls Night Out: A Shopping Extravaganza at the theatre's on-site catering venue, The Farmhouse, on Thursday, November 17, 2016 from 6 to 10 pm. Proceeds benefit People's Light's Community Matters program. The event is sponsored by Walter J. Cook Jeweler in Paoli. Shop, sip, snack, support! Girls Night Out attendees can enjoy the work of local craftspeople including artisanal ceramics and glassware, jewelry, beauty products, as well as high end consignment pieces and other items collected for sale in the People's Light Treasure Shop. The evening will feature the work of local ceramic artists Effie Brenner, Bob Deane, and Shari Sikora, as well as Wheaton Arts glassware. Handmade jewelry designed by Hilary Hertzler, Davidoff Oneal, and Hattie Weselyk, and wearables from Elisabeth Jonsson Brown, Heidi Hammel, Amanda Meltz, and Suzanne Designs are also available for purchase.

Girls Night Out supports Community Matters, a series of free events presented in partnership between People's Light and numerous local organizations to spark dialogue about vital issues in our community. Performed readings of new plays are the centerpiece of each evening, followed by a lively, town hall discussion with the audience and a panel of experts. This program has a proven track record for catalyzing valuable dialogue across various sectors of our region.

ABOUT PEOPLE'S LIGHT

Now in its 42nd season, People's Light, a professional, not-for-profit theatre in Chester County, Pennsylvania, makes plays drawn from many sources to entertain, inspire, and engage our community. We extend our mission of making and experiencing theatre through arts education programs that excite curiosity about, and deepen understanding of, the world around us. These plays and programs bring people together and provide opportunities for reflection, discovery, and celebration. Founded in 1974, we produce eight to nine plays each season, in two black box theatres with 340 and 160 seats respectively, mixing world premieres, contemporary plays, and fresh approaches to classic texts for our 7-Play, Spark, and Teen Series.
