Longing Lasts Longer is a continually developing piece by Penny Arcade and her long-time collaborator Steve Zehentner, presented Oct. 24-25. The show is an investigation into love, longing and the loss of New York's cultural identity. In the post-gentrified landscape of "The Big Cupcake," where ideas too have been gentrified, Longing Lasts Longer is set in a New York disappearing under the weight of suburbanization, cultural amnesia and the politically correct straightjacket of consensus.

Penny Arcade occupies a unique position in the American counter-culture and the American avant-garde. She is an internationally respected writer, poet, and one of the handful of artists who created contemporary text based performance art in the 1980's and she has continued to define Performance Art for nearly three decades, She is particularly known for her complex, long form performance pieces. Her unique voice, marked by a great articulation of complex ideas still forming in the collective consciousness and her magnetic stage presence have given her mainstream career recognition far beyond America's shores.
